Buttery Warm Apple Sauce (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 2 cups of water
02 - 12 Fuji apples, fresh

→ For Topping

03 - A pinch of nutmeg, ground
04 - A pinch of cinnamon, ground
05 - 1 or 2 tbsp butter, preferably pastured

# Instructions:

01 - Chop the apples into pieces after peeling the skin off.
02 - Toss the apple chunks into a big, lidded pot and pour in the water.
03 - On medium heat, let everything slowly bubble. Lower the heat, pop the lid on, and let it cook gently.
04 - Stir every so often while letting it cook slowly with the lid on for about an hour.
05 - When most water's gone, the apples should look deep and caramel-colored. Stir more often now. Keep cooking till it thickens and becomes soft. Mash any big pieces with a spoon.
06 - Spoon the warm sauce into small bowls and top with butter and a sprinkle of spices.

# Notes:

01 - Store any extra sauce in the fridge. You can enjoy it cold or warm it back up!
02 - Want it creamy? Blend it with an immersion blender after cooking.
03 - Apples like Gala, Honeycrisp, or Pink Lady work great too.
