French Onion Soup Burgers Recipe (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
02 - 1 packet (about 4 to 6 tablespoons) Lipton Onion Soup Mix
03 - 2 1/2 tablespoons butter
04 - 2 large onions, thinly sliced
05 - A pinch of thyme
06 - Water as needed (about 3/4 cup)
07 - 1 tablespoon brandy or Sherry (optional, but recommended)
08 - 4 to 8 ounces Swiss or Provolone cheese
09 - 4 buns and a little butter or oil to brush them with

# Instructions:

01 - Mix ground beef with onion soup mix and set aside to rest.
02 - Melt butter in a skillet, add onions, thyme, and water. Simmer until onions are tender and browned. Add brandy or Sherry and remove from heat.
03 - Form beef mixture into patties and cook on the stovetop or grill until desired doneness. Top each burger with caramelized onions and cheese.
04 - Brush buns with butter or oil and toast in a hot pan or on the grill.
05 - Serve the burgers hot with melted cheese and caramelized onions.

01 - Use any melty cheese you prefer.
02 - Prepare the caramelized onions ahead of time and reheat before serving.
