Top everything off with the green onions and cheese if you're using them. Eat it while it's still hot.

Keep it simmering and whisking so the milk and everything blends. Let it get nice and thick, around five minutes or so.

Slowly pour in your milk while you whisk it, making sure it all comes together nice and smooth.

Toss your flour over the sausage and stir for a few minutes until everything looks combined.

Heat up a large pan on medium and cook the sausage, busting it up as it browns up.

Bake your tater tots on a tray following the package instructions until they're crispy and golden.

Pile up the hot tater tots in bowls and pour a good amount of sausage gravy on top.
