# What You'll Need:

01 - 1 loaf Italian bread
02 - ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
03 - 1 teaspoon garlic salt

→ For the Sloppy Joe Filling

04 - 1 pound ground beef
05 - ¼ cup yellow onion, chopped
06 - ½ teaspoon garlic powder
07 - 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
08 - ¾ cup ketchup
09 - ½ teaspoon kosher salt
10 - ¼ teaspoon black pepper
11 - ½ cup water

→ For the Topping

12 - 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
13 - 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
14 - Chopped parsley, for garnish

# Let's Cook!:

01 - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise and spread the softened butter evenly on both halves. Sprinkle with garlic salt. Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes, or until toasted. Remove and set aside.
02 - In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned and softened, breaking the meat into crumbles. Drain excess fat and stir in garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, kosher salt, black pepper, and water. Simmer for 5 minutes to thicken.
03 - Spoon the beef mixture evenly over the toasted bread halves. Top with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Return to the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
04 - Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped parsley, and slice into servings.

# Cook's Notes:

01 - Swap Italian bread with French bread or ciabatta for a different texture.
02 - Add red pepper flakes to the filling for a spicy kick!
03 - Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
