Crispy Cheesy Mozzarella Bites (Printer-Friendly Version)

# What You'll Need:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
02 - 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
03 - 2 large eggs, beaten
04 - 1 1/2 cups (150g) seasoned breadcrumbs
05 - 1 cup (100g) grated Parmesan cheese
06 - 1 tsp Italian seasoning
07 - 1/2 tsp garlic powder
08 - 1/4 tsp salt
09 - Vegetable oil (for frying) or cooking spray (for baking)

# Let's Cook!:

01 - Cut each mozzarella stick into 3 equal pieces. Place them in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
02 - In one shallow bowl, place the flour. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt.
03 - Dip each frozen cheese piece into the flour, shaking off the excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating for a thicker crust. Place the coated cheese bites on a baking sheet and freeze for an additional 15-20 minutes to prevent melting during cooking.
04 - For Frying: Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the cheese bites in batches for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. For Baking: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the cheese bites on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Lightly spray with cooking spray and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
05 - Serve hot with marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.

# Cook's Notes:

01 - Make it spicy: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture for a spicy kick.
02 - Double-coat for extra crunch: Dip the cheese bites twice in the egg and breadcrumb mixture for an extra crispy coating.
03 - Storage: Best enjoyed fresh, but you can refrigerate leftover bites for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for crispiness.
