Orange Slices Candied (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - Thinly slice 2-3 medium-sized oranges into rounds (roughly ⅛–¼ inch thick).
02 - 1 cup water
03 - 2 cups white sugar

→ Optional

04 - Extra white sugar for rolling or dusting

# Instructions:

01 - Rinse the oranges thoroughly, then cut them into fine, round slices (around ⅛–¼ inch thick). Remove seeds where needed.
02 - Mix the sugar and water in a large pan or skillet. Gently heat on medium, stirring until you’ve got a smooth syrup.
03 - Turn the heat down to low and lay the orange slices in one layer in the syrup. Let them cook slowly for 45–60 minutes. Flip the slices now and then, cooking until they’re transparent.
04 - Place the glazed orange slices on a wire rack over parchment paper to catch drips. Let them sit for at least 24 hours until they feel slightly sticky but firm.
05 - After they’ve dried, coat the orange slices with sugar for a sparkly, decorative look.
06 - Keep the orange slices in a sealed container at room temperature for up to a week. Use as toppings, edible decor, or even a treat on their own!

# Notes:

01 - A mandoline makes slicing oranges evenly super easy.
02 - Keep leftover syrup to sweeten drinks like tea, cocktails, or drizzle over breakfast treats like pancakes.
03 - Want a chewier texture? Dry the slices longer or pop them into an oven set at 170°F (75°C) for a couple of hours.
04 - Pick oranges with thin peels—thick rinds can make the taste a bit bitter.
05 - These slices are awesome for decorating cakes and holiday desserts.
